Start of an Idea
The non-facilities based or “virtual” model has been deployed in industries such as telecommunications, banking and logistics. While working together to hedge fuel costs, Russ merged his expertise in logistics with Ky’s expertise in economic modeling.
The outcome, the Virtual Refinery Program, was a novel approach to creating a synthetic refinery complete with inventories, production schedules and market interactions.
